History - Broken Yolk Cafe.

1979
The original Broken Yolk Cafe opened in 1979, just a mile from the sand and surf in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood.

1993
John Gelastopoulos, a San Diego restaurant broker, purchased the original Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach. With a passion for hospitality, quality ingredients, and community connection, John and his family grew the restaurant's namesake from being a neighborhood staple to a citywide favorite.

2010
After years of demand from fans, Broken Yolk officially launched its franchise program. Two restaurants quickly followed in Chula Vista and San Diego’s popular Gaslamp District. It didn’t take long to reach 15 stores spanning all of San Diego County.
